Reining Horse Clinic Day 1 - Friday
On Friday we will begin at 9 am, so it is best to fly in Thursday afternoon or evening. A light breakfast will be provided. The morning session will be spent matching horses and riders and work on correct body positions in saddle, use of rein and leg aids, speed and gait transitions. After lunch we will work on circles, speed control and straight lines. We will finish by 4:00 pm.
Reining Horse Clinic Day 2 - Saturday
Day two will begin again at 9:00 am with discussions of what judges look for and how to break down patterns to simplify the learning process. We will practice more precise guiding techniques on our horses and practice stops and roll-backs. Learning will come not only from each individual's runs, but from watching others' runs. After lunch, we will begin lead changes and practice mapping out patterns in the arena to create a smooth over-all picture during your run. The day will end by 4 pm.
Reining Horse Clinic Day 3 - Sunday
Sunday will begin at 9:00 am, and we will, again, practice speed control and guiding techniques using our seats, legs and hands. We will add speed to sharpen our turn-arounds and stops. The afternoon session will consist of an informal competition which will conclude with awards and a BBQ lunch. We’ll finish by 3:00 to accommodate those of you who will be flying home that day.
